Anyone can enter the Joseph's Contest, sponsored by Joseph's Family restaurant.  Maybe you could be the next winner with that special pie recipe of yours!

2012 Winners

Josephs has been doing this contest for over twenty years and every year we find a new and exciting pie. This years winning pie is a peanut butter type with a pretzel crust made by Sherry Hessler. This pie is a light, smooth and creamy peanut butter pie, and the crust is made of crushed pretzels. She is our 2012 winner of this years contest. We had over 25 entries for this contest and this one was tied for the grand prize with one made by Annie Olson. The Judges had to re taste and score both of these pie in a tie breaker. Sherry was very happy she won, Annie not quite as happy as Sherry but it is what it is. The top four places in this years contest was as close as any prior year scores, 119 to 122 points. Second place (runner up) was also a tie. The judges had to re taste and re score these two also. A very close contest with four super great pies all trying for the grand prize spot.

Congratulations to Sherry Hessler, Annie Olson, and Meghan and Nichole Junker

The winners in this years "Josephs Pie Baking Contest".

2010 Winners

Grand prize Winner is Mary Sue Fedie.  The grand prize winner scored a 132 points out of a possible 150 to win this years contest and take home $200.00 Dollars. The First place runner up is Janet Belisle with a total of 130 points. Our second place runner up is Lisa Sturgeon with a total of 128 points.  This years contest was held on Saturday July 24th at 1 p.m. This year we had approximately 40 different pies entered. Entries range from a beautiful lattice topped raspberry pie by Patricia, a tall whipped cream pie with a raspberry (liquor) flavoring mixed in by Mary, and a 7 layer pie/cake with a chocolate base, light chocolate, then dark chocolate, then light chocolate, then more dark chocolate and topped with pecans and coconut made by Kristen.

The judging was done by three individuals who love pie. Each of the judges tasted the final selection and hand picked Mary Sue’s Raspberry Swirl. Joe says “everyone will love this new addition to our award winning pie list”. This pie has a light fluffy cheesecake center on a graham cracker crust, with a raspberry swirl top, and a fresh raspberry cover. Together they create a beautiful full flavor that’s light and also refreshing.  Joseph will be serving the award winning “Mary Sue’s Raspberry Swirl” pie on Friday July 30 Stop in and try a slice.

2009 Winners

This was a very close race, with 45 contestants trying to be number one. There is a picture taken of all of the pies that were judged, below. Because of the number of pies, we split up the pies into two groups; we also split up the judging into two groups. This helped in limiting the amount of pies we needed to sample and judge. After the first round we picked out the top five pies from each group and started the judging over. This created our final scores, one score sheet for each pie and from each judge. The final tally from everyone and the largest total points (a maximum of 50 points per judge) creates the winner.
