For 35 year Joe Kohler has been serving up more than 20 made from scratch pies each day. From classic like apple, pecan, and pumpkin, to more inventive recipes with macadamia nuts, peanut butter, and coconut, the pies at Joseph's are worth going out of your way for. Each year the restaurant hosts a pie recipe contest during Lumberjack Days, and winning pies have become part of the restaurant's regular dessert rotation.

A Chance to Dine with Royalty

Oak Park Heights, Minn. - Joseph’s Family Restaurant brought a bit of fantasy to the St. Croix Valley. On April 22, the local restaurant gave children of all ages the opportunity to meet and take a picture with a fairy tale princess, free of charge. In addition to professional photographs, provided by Shaunee’s Portrait Creations, Joseph’s had an entire evening geared towards the royal treatment for children. The storybook themed evening at the restaurant also included special children’s dinners, playful music, and of course the chance to meet and dine with a fantasy character. All children were encouraged to dress in fairy tale attire for the photo opportunity. The Princess Dinner began at 4 p.m. on April 22 and ends at 7 p.m. Children of all ages were welcome to come and receive their free photograph with the Joseph’s Princess.

Joseph’s Family Restaurant Crowns Lumberjack Day’s Pie Contest Winner for 2007

Stillwater, Minn.- July 24, 2007- Stillwater resident Sheri White was crowned the 2007 winner of Joseph’s annual Lumberjack Days Pie Contest. White’s pie “Sheri’s Raspberry Cream” beat out the competition and took home the $200.00 grand prize. The prize winning pie will be featured for the next year at Joseph’s Family Restaurant as a seasonal special.

The contest had a total of 38 entries. There was a variety of different flavors featured including Peach Cream, Espresso Chocolate Cream, Raspberry Rhubarb and Multi-layered Chocolate. Each pie was graded on appearance, tenderness, texture, flavor and filling. Each category was worth ten points and White’s pie scored a possible 167 of 200. The first runner up, Robin Stanislaw scored 159 points taking home $100, and second runner up came to a tie, giving Christine Augustine and Daisy Tuenge $50 each.

2007 Lumberjack Days Parade

This year was the first time we had an "float" in the Lumberjack Days Parade.

This year we featured the winner of our annual Lumberjack Days Pie Contest, Sheri White.

White was honored for her winning accomplishment at the Lumberjack Day Parade on the Joseph’s truck and announced her pie on stage Sunday evening downtown Stillwater on stage in front of thousands of spectators.
